Job Description

The House of Commons’ Procedural Services is currently looking to create a pool of potential candidates for the position of Publishing and Quality Assurance Officer. In this part-time position, the incumbent will be working remotely when the House of Commons is in session. This may include evenings and weekends.

The Publishing and Quality Assurance Officers (PQAO) are responsible for the timely and accurate technical preparation, data entry, formatting, quality assurance (including proofreading/concordance) and publishing of draft and final versions of translated parliamentary texts (i.e. Debates, Committee Evidence, Committee Reports and Special Projects) and their preparation for online publishing and printing as well as their submission to other parties for indexing and archiving.

Qualifications

Education:

Successful completion of post-secondary education OR an acceptable combination of completed secondary education, training and relevant experience.

Experiences:

Experience working in an environment with tight turnaround times;

Experience using MS Office Suite, particularly MS Word for formatting stylized and accessible documents;

Experience using web publishing software for creating and updating HTML documents (with HTML coding, not using a website content management system).

Assets:

Experience with document editing / proofreading;

Experience using some Adobe Creative Suite software (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop).
