POSITION SUMMARY
:
This is an advanced level coding position. The Coder II is a senior Level Professional Fee Coder with at least three (3) or more years’ experience in multiple specialties with a focus on Anesthesia encounters. The Anesthesia/Pain Coder key duties include reviewing documentation to assign appropriate CPT/ASA codes using the CPT-4/ASA manual and established criteria. The Coder will work with clinic supervisors and/or providers to resolve coding issues and questions, following applicable payer rules and guidelines.
This individual will also work with members of the Revenue management team to address coding issues and concerns. Key duties also include reviewing documentation to assign appropriate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 diagnosis codes, resolve edits in WQs (charge review, claim edit, and follow up), and review denials for possible corrected claims or appeals. Three (3) years coding experience in Anesthesia is highly preferred.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have a High School Diploma; or GED required, Associate Degree preferred.
• Three (3) years recent Professional Fee Anesthesia Coding and abstracting experience.
• Experience with EPIC is preferred.
• CCS-P, COC, CPC and willing to get CANPC (Certified Anesthesia and Pain Management Coder) within the first year of employment.
• Must be technically savvy and have some remote experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Five (5) years Professional Fee Anesthesia Coding experience.
• Certified Anesthesia and Pain Management Coder Credential (CANPC) but NOT required at time of hire.
Working Hours Needed:
• Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours a week, hours 6 AM – 6 PM in whatever time zone they live in.
• Flexible hours during training and pre-bill review process.
