Position Summary
This is a part-time hybrid role for the Secretary of the Board of Directors located in the Detroit Metropolitan Area, with some responsibilities performed remotely. The Secretary will be responsible for managing board communications, preparing and distributing meeting agendas and minutes, ensuring adherence to corporate governance requirements, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the board in strategic planning processes. The role may also involve liaising with public and government officials and assisting with public relations efforts to further the organization’s mission.
Qualifications
- Experience with Board of Directors operations and the ability to provide administrative support.
- Knowledge and understanding of Corporate Governance practices and principles.
- Skills in Strategic Planning, including setting objectives, action plans, and tracking outcomes.
- Proficiency in Public Relations and experience interacting with stakeholders and media.
- Ability to liaise effectively with Government officials and regulatory bodies.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with acute attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using digital tools for document management and virtual meeting coordination.
- Previous nonprofit or youth-focused organization experience is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field preferred.
Time Commitment
- Attend quarterly board meetings and occasional committee meetings.
- Estimated commitment: 1-3 hours per month.
- Approximately 36 hours per year.
