Duties

Perform a variety of administrative support duties, such as screening telephone calls, managing higher official calendar, making travel arrangements, and reviewing documents for accuracy in support of the District Commander.

Establish internal administrative control procedures to ensure consistency.

Advise administrative and clerical personnel administrative support matters through written and oral instructions.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Requirement:Typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

Specialized Experience:One year of specialized experience which includes
1) performing administrative functions to ensure office runs smoothly such as maintaining calendars for officials, preparing travel reimbursements, coordinating arrival of officials, or coordinating conferences and meetings;
2) preparing correspondence using office automation applications or systems; AND
3) applying administrative policy guidance and procedures to office tasks.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Additional information
