Mechanical Engineer – Advanced Battery Systems

📍 Brisbane, QLD | ⏳ Contract (with potential to extend)

Are you a hands-on Senior Mechanical Engineer with a passion for innovation and next-generation energy solutions?

A cutting-edge technology company is seeking a talented engineer to help design and deliver advanced battery systems for use across automotive, marine, aerospace and industrial applications.

This is a contract offering the opportunity to work on real-world projects that move from concept to production, collaborating with a team at the forefront of battery performance and reliability.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll contribute to the design, testing and manufacture of complex battery assemblies and electronic systems. Your work will span:

  • Designing custom battery assemblies and high-current power circuits (harnesses and busbars).
  • Developing enclosures for batteries and electronic assemblies, optimising for thermal, vibration and impact performance.
  • Using simulation and validation to test and refine designs.
  • Creating key documentation such as technical drawings, BOMs and product requirements.
  • Researching and applying manufacturing methods for both low- and high-volume production.
  • Managing products within a PLM/PDM environment and guiding product decisions in a multi-disciplinary team.

What We’re Looking For

To excel, you’ll bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 4 years’ + post-graduate design experience, ideally with complex assemblies.
  • Proficiency in 3D parametric modelling software (SolidWorks or Inventor).
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection moulding, and 3D printing.
  • Experience taking products from concept through to production (including DFMEA, DFA/DFX, BOM management).
  • Familiarity with GD&T and a practical approach to prototyping.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Highly regarded but not essential:

  • Exposure to electronic principles or power electronics.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Confluence, Jira).
  • Background in defence, aerospace or other safety-critical industries.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Work on industry-leading technology in a fast-paced, start-up style environment.
  • See your designs come to life in cutting-edge battery systems with real-world impact.
  • Competitive hourly/daily rate and the chance to extend beyond the initial contract.

If you’re a talented engineer excited by innovation and advanced energy technology, we’d love to hear from you.
