About Us
Metz Specialty Materials is a long-established Australian manufacturer of high-performance construction materials, supplying engineered systems designed to resist corrosion and abrasion in food, processing, and heavy industrial environments.
Utilising a range of chemistries, we manufacture a broad portfolio of high-value, technical dry-mix mortars, grouts, adhesives, and industrial coating products. Our customers include many well-known Australian companies, and we export to Asia and the Middle East.
Unlike most construction materials manufacturers, Metz operates in-house application teams, meaning our largest customer is our own installation workforce. This creates a highly collaborative environment between production, technical, and application teams.
The Role
We seek a Senior Production Manager to take end-to-end responsibility for manufacturing operations at our Quality Accredited Clayton facility.
Operating within a small-batch, high-value manufacturing environment with both powder and liquid production streams, this role will suit an experienced leader from construction materials or similar process manufacturing industries.
You will have full ownership of manufacturing, warehousing, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
– Full operational ownership of powder and liquid manufacturing, including performance, safety, and output
– Lead, develop and drive performance of production, technical, and warehouse teams (5–8 staff)
– Oversight of procurement, production planning, manufacturing, warehousing, and despatch
– Responsibility for WHS, environmental compliance, and Dangerous Goods handling and storage
– Drive continuous improvement, efficiency, yield optimisation, and waste reduction
– Ensure compliance with quality systems and accreditation requirements
– Collaborate closely with technical, R&D, and in-house application teams
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
– 7+ years’ experience in manufacturing, including at least 3 years in a senior production or operations role
– Experience within an Australian manufacturing environment
– Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, Dangerous Goods, and environmental compliance
– Proven leadership capability in a hands-on manufacturing setting
Highly Regarded
– Experience in construction materials manufacturing, including:
• Dry-mix mortars or cementitious products
• Industrial or protective coatings
• Grouts, adhesives, or related materials
– Experience in dry-mix batching, blending, or process manufacturing environments
– Background in high-value, batch manufacturing
– Experience leading continuous improvement or process optimisation initiatives
What We Offer
– Senior role with genuine operational autonomy and influence
– Competitive salary aligned with experience
– Technically interesting and specialised manufacturing environment
– Stable, long-established Australian business with export exposure
