Job Profile

The Social assistant will work as part of the women and girls safe space or Protection Unit, and will be

responsible for providing direct case management for the survivors of Violence against women and girls,

making referral and conducting Non structured awareness raising sessions to conflict-affected and displaced

women and girls and survivors of Violence against women and girls, as part of RI’s expanded protection

program in Syria, The Social assistant will operate under technical guidance from protection officer and

Protection Coordinator and report directly to the Protection Officer.

Key responsibilities

Accountability and Complexity

This role implements survivor-centered case management services, coordinating community engagement

activities, and maintaining data confidentiality, demonstrating high discretion and problem-solving skills in a

complex and sensitive environment

Case Management

  • Identify and implement timely, survivor-centered, and age-appropriate case management services to all

clients at RI-supported WGSS, health facilities, and mobile clinics, ensuring strict adherence to

Protection guiding principles.

  • Follow up on cases to ensure timely delivery of services throughout the standard phases of case

management and work closely with the protection coordinator on sensitive cases.

  • Utilize Protection data management tools and systems to record client information, maintaining

confidentiality, and use aggregate data to improve service delivery.

  • Identify available services and coordinate referrals based on the survivor’s consent, advocating for

additional confidential services and supporting the development and utilization of referral pathways for

Violence against women and girls’ cases.

Community Engagement And Awareness

  • Create and maintain a welcoming and safe environment at RI WGSS, health facilities, and Protection

unites, working closely with community health workers (CHWs) to ensure awareness of services and

facilitate referrals.

  • Assist in the dissemination of information, education, and communication materials integrated into

health-related awareness activities, and assess the knowledge and utilization of health and other

services available for women and girls.

  • Maintain positive relationships with women committees, community mobilizers, and other communitybased

groups to ensure their involvement in WGSS and PU activities.

  • Conducting Non structured awareness raising sessions to conflict-affected and displaced women and

girls and survivors of VAWG (Violence against women and girls).

Training And Capacity Building

  • Engage in training sessions conducted by Protection officer and Protection coordinator.
  • Raise awareness among beneficiaries about available mental health and protection services.
  • Participate in relevant training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge in the field.

Coordination And Collaboration

  • Work with the protection officer to develop and oversee WGSS/PU activities, support capacity building and

coordination in the field, and maintain a collaborative relationship with all organizations working in the

context to facilitate referrals and joint activities.

  • Monitor the hotline, ensure referral paths, service maps are updated, and advocate with organizations to

provide additional confidential services to WGSS clients, in accordance with Protection and survivor

centered approach guiding principles.

  • Attend required meetings and trainings, and work closely with the protection officer/admin officer to ensure

effective coordination.

Reporting And Data Management

  • Assist in collecting data and statistics related to the activities of health workers and share with the

Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant, following internal procedures.

  • Complete monthly activity reports, attend weekly case review meetings, and develop and maintain work

plans to achieve target indicators.

  • Collect data through case management tools and data management systems, ensuring the highest

standards of data protection and confidentiality.

Person Specification

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise Required For The Role.

Essential criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Gender Studies, etc.) and 2 year of

relevant experience

  • Experience in counseling, social work, women’s health, or another related field
  • Clear understanding of and interest in the wellbeing of women and girls, and supporting their healing after

the experience of violence

  • Understanding of case management, psychosocial support and life skills programming to promote survivor

healing and recovery

  • Fluent Arabic language communication skills required (both oral and written)
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients
  • Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in a team setting
  • Strong ability to maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, and work in a difficult environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, Windows operating systems
  • Organized and able to independently manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively.

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of oral and written English is desirable
  • Proficiency in Excel, is preferred
  • Good analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to details.
