Summary
Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the incumbent shall exercise considerable independent judgment in providing complex technical and administrative duties at a paraprofessional level in an assigned area. Participates in administration of effective functioning of assigned departmental or program unit operations.

Distinguishing Characteristics
The Transfer Center Specialist classification performs a variety of administrative and technical work with increased independent judgment and actions. Parameters of work are generally defined, but methods and procedures to be followed may be independently derived subject to higher level review. This classification analyzes problems of varying levels of difficulty; assignments are described in terms of desired objectives on results rather than in method and procedures.

Incumbents serve as a college partner in student learning outcome objectives by providing assistance regarding enrollment and academic and career information to pre-college and college
students to increase awareness and knowledge of educational opportunities, to encourage college attendance and/or to improve the college experience; provides support to counselors and other staff; provides students with assistance and support to identify career pathways and/or facilitate transfer to four year institutions; develops, implements and facilitates Transfer Center services and maintains updated Transfer Center resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties may vary among departments, divisions and jobs. Incumbents typically perform a substantial portion or all of the following kinds of duties, as assigned:
1. Provides a variety of transfer education and services that includes transfer orientation, transfer-related workshops/presentations; organizes and oversees transfer fairs and virtual tours, and represents the Transfer Center at College events, student activities, and off-campus events.
2. Coordinates and conducts transfer activities and events throughout the College, attends to the daily operations of the center that includes day-to-day operations, and budget/equipment/ requests, initiates and submits transfer activities Board items and contracts, as needed, for transfer fairs and events, etc.
3. Conducts 1-on-1 student transfer appointments; guides students on 4-year applications, and reviews personal statement/narratives. Conducts student appointments in Student Services Center, and at College campuses.
4. Acts as a liaison to a variety of transfer partners, out-of-state schools, colleges, and universities. Develops collaborative partnerships as a part of transfer activities with college departments.
5. Facilitates group discussions with students, College clubs, and College staff development projects (e.g. EOPS).
6. Performs a variety of transfer activities; reviews and maintains student files/transcripts and assures accuracy and confidentiality (FERPA) in transfer information; prepares and maintains a variety of transfer records and reports related to the Transfer Center that includes, but is not limited to College Transfer Reports, State Annual Report on Transfer Activities, Annual Transfer Reports and Material/Equipment Requests, and Comprehensive Program Reports.
7. Answers transfer inquiries by phone, email, video-conference, etc.
8. Trains and schedules work assignments for Work Study students; assigns work hours.
9. Has independent review and update of the Transfer Center website.
10. Provides education and student training on online resources, transfer online tools, four-year representative contacts, and specific four-year programs and services.
11. Gathers, compiles, and synthesizes information to develop effective transfer strategies for the college community, including web page materials and links, social media, and printed materials, for a diverse group of transfer students incorporating marketing principles as appropriate; coordinates with webmasters, campus communications, and public affairs as needed.
12. Coordinates and co-hosts the annual Transfer Advisory Council and other related meetings that brings together administration from the UC, CSU, and CA Private schools to support the transfer needs of community college students. This advisory council is a requirement of the State Chancellor’s Annual Report on Transfer Activities.
13. Advises, directs, refers, evaluates and assists students with transfer inquiries by providing information and assessment resources which may include published and online materials, vocational goals, labor market trends and referral to counselors, as needed.
14. Organizes and maintains Transfer Center files and student intake databases; creates and prepares forms to facilitate office record-keeping procedures; tracks Transfer Center usage and contacts. Maintains statistical data and prepares reports; maintains electronic lists.
