Position Summary

Under general supervision of the Work Control Manager, the Work Control Coordinator understands and performs the full scope of Facilities Services Work Control Center activities and responsibilities. Primary responsibilities are a) completing and reporting on the full execution of the maintenance work order processes from receipt and initiation through close out, b) providing customer service to Facilities Services’ staff, the campus community and vendors and c) ensuring data integrity for facility information.

The Work Control Coordinator provides courteous, reliable, and efficient professional services and support to the campus and Facilities Services. They provide prompt response and resolution of emergency work, accurate documentation for all projects under the coordination of Facilities Services.

The Work Control Coordinator consistently meets the needs of the university in a timely and professional manner; follow-up on projects or tasks to ensure that all items are completed; consistently meets deadlines; builds and maintains internal and external customer satisfaction with the products and services offered by the organization; seeks customer feedback; and is responsive to customers and takes appropriate action for the situation.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Department Summary

SDSU Facilities Services (FS) is a customer-service based organization providing facility maintenance activities through a transparent and deliberate process. It is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, renovation, remodel, and alteration activities in support of the academic and research mission of the university. Facilities Services employs approximately 250 employees and supports approximately eight million square feet of buildings (including residence halls and parking structures) and 280 acres of improved and unimproved land.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly lean new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
