Recruitment Range: $37,782-$44,000 (This is a range. Selected candidate’s salary will be determined within this range based on qualifications, equity, and funding at the time of hire.)

Purpose
of Position
The North Carolina Zoo is looking to hire a Zoo Administrative Assistant to join the Zoo’s Communications/Marketing team. This position reports to the Deputy Director/Chief Communications Officer.
The Zoo Administrative Assistant provides administrative support, such as office management, preparing travel documents, scheduling meetings and reservations, purchasing, maintaining work orders, distributing staff documents, tracking and reconciling budgets, ensuring adherence to state budgetary rules and regulations, and creating reports. Other duties may include preparing presentations and arranging tours of the North Carolina Zoo.
Key Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:
Work schedule – Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 and some weekends or evenings as needed for special events.
Must be able to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.
Must have exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, prioritization, and problem-solving.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and verbal; ability to adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the audience; ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure.
Ability to work effectively both within a team and independently.
Must possess and be able to maintain a valid US driver’s license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
Minimum Requirements
Demonstrated working experience monitoring and reconciling budgets.
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Demonstrated experience of data collection, data entry, storage, organization, manipulation, and/or analysis of data.
Proficient in the operation of a wide range of office equipment such as computers, projectors, printers, and multi-line phone systems.
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND two years of related administrative experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
