POSITION: Secretary II, Full-Time
HOURS: 7.5 hours per day
LOCATION: Crater High School

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS:
$15.90 – $18.53, depending upon approved accepted experience
Longevity pay after completion of 6 years of employment
Annual COLA pay increase (as negotiated with Oregon School Employees Association)
Annual step pay increase awarded to eligible employees
8 paid holidays annually
10 paid sick leave days per year
2 paid personal leave days per year
5 paid bereavement leave days per year, per occurrence
Up to $1,976. per month district-paid contribution toward full-family medical, dental and vision insurance (for full-time employees)

Secretary II

Purpose: The Secretary II helps ensure the efficient and organized administration of District and school business by performing routine reception, secretarial, clerical and office functions.

Reports to: Principal or Assistant Principal

Nature of Work: The Secretary II works independently following standardized routines, under close supervision. The nature of the work requires adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations. This job requires frequent interaction both with students and the general public and as such requires a high level of professional decorum as well as the ability to act as a role model for young people.

Supervision Exercised: No direct supervision exercised.

Interface: Primarily interfaces with administrators, teachers, non-licensed school staff, colleagues, students, parents and visitors.

Essential Job Functions:

Provides general secretarial support to school staff, including answering phone calls, taking messages, producing typed documents and maintaining files and records.
Communicates with the public in person, by telephone or through electronic means.
Maintains various kinds of records, including student attendance, test scores and personnel matters, and makes regular reports to the District office as required.
Processes student registration, enrollment and transfers.
Greets and directs students, parents and other visitors to the school office.
Communicates with parents about student absences and other issues pertaining to student welfare.
Administers basic first-aid and medications to students in accordance with established medical protocols doctor’s instructions.
Produces typed and edited documents from oral or written instructions, including correspondence, reports, memoranda and interoffice communications.
Operates a variety of standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, fax machine and calculator.
Receives, sorts and distributes incoming mail.
Manages school supplies and handles ordering, receiving and distribution.
Receives, screens and routes incoming telephone calls.
Responds to general inquiries for information and assistance.
Maintains effective and respectful working relationships with staff and students.

Required Qualifications:
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must pass a criminal background check.
Must be able to read, write, understand and follow multi-step written and verbal instructions in English.

Working Conditions:
The Secretary II works primarily indoors in an office environment. The position requires regular work at a computer, as well as the ability to write, hear and speak. The incumbent will also occasionally be required to kneel, bend or crouch. Potential exposures may include blood-borne pathogens and sick, injured or agitated students. The position requires high levels of interaction with children from diverse backgrounds, many of whom experiences behavior, academic, or physiological challenges.
