Unit Mission Statement
To provide a venue for faculty, staff, students, as well as the local community to play the game of tennis and also to participate in classes and tournaments in a facility that provides USTA regulation courts as well as the opportunity to meet players of different levels.

Position Summary
Greets visitors, customers, and vendors at the McCormack Nagelsen Tennis Center by staffing the front desk.
The Receptionist will answer phones, transfer calls, draft correspondence, file, and copy.
String tennis racquets.
Use the Registration/Reservation System to schedule court reservations, accept activity registrations, sell memberships, and pro-shop merchandise.
Ensure all orders completed online through the Innosoft system are processed including pro-shop orders, and memberships, and maintain the data integrity of the system.
Receive and process payments in the point-of-sale system, and run monthly business reports.
Monitor and respond to inquiries through social media.
Assist with special events, maintains center message boards, and other marketing initiatives as necessary.

Conditions of Employment
This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed, on average, 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve-month period beginning May 1 each year.
The position is estimated at 10-20 hours per week, on an on-call basis, with hours not guaranteed.
Some weekend and holiday work may be required.
This is a restricted position, subject to the continued availability of funding.

Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Demonstrated excellent customer service skills
Must be detailed oriented with excellent verbal and written communications skills
Experience in using computers and knowledge of reservations systems, point-of-sale systems/cash registers.
Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the game of Tennis.
Prior experience in a higher education setting or equivalent environment.
Prior experience in a receptionist capacity or office environment.
