About the Company
Responsible for the overall manufacturing operations of the ceramic tile factory, including production planning, process control, quality management, team management, cost control, safety, and efficiency improvement to ensure on-time, high-quality, and cost-effective output.
About the Role
Manage daily production operations of the ceramic factory to ensure output, efficiency, and delivery targets are met.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and workflow optimization.
- Control production costs, reduce waste, improve OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency).
- Ensure strict compliance with safety, health, and environmental (SHE) standards in South Africa.
- Supervise production teams, including shift supervisors, technicians, and workers; provide training and performance management.
- Work with quality team to ensure product quality meets company and international standards.
- Collaborate with maintenance, warehouse, procurement, and sales teams for smooth operation.
- Monitor and improve production processes, ceramic manufacturing technology, and yield rate.
- Ensure all equipment is properly operated and maintained to minimize downtime.
- Prepare production reports, KPI tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of manufacturing management experience in ceramic, building materials, or related production industry.
- Strong knowledge of ceramic tile production processes, including pressing, glazing, firing, quality control.
- Experience managing a large production team and shift operations.
- Familiar with lean manufacturing, 5S, TPM, cost control and process optimization.
- Knowledge of South African factory safety, labor laws and compliance requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Fluent in English; computer literate (ERP, Excel, production systems).
- Able to work under pressure and strong sense of responsibility.
