Planning Field Intern Jobs in Minneapolis, MN at City of Minneapolis
The department of Community Planning and Economic Development currently has one (1) full-time Summer Internship opportunity, in the area of Zoning – Field Inspection.
Schedule:The hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Pay:Anticipated hourly rate of $16.51, depending on qualifications. A resume and cover letter are required with your application.
Work Location:This position currently works on-site only.
Assist Zoning Enforcement in a variety of field inspection duties such as:
Reviewing site for compliance with site plan approvals, including garages, new single family homes, and larger developments such as multifamily and nonresidential structures.
Additional project duties assigned if needed.
Data entry as required.
Minimum Qualifications:Current students, or recent graduates within a year of this announcement, with an educational focus in Building or Housing Inspections, Urban Studies, Business Administration, Public Administration, Housing Program, Urban Planning, Geography, Architecture or other related fields.
Minimum Experience:No experience required.
Licenses/Certifications:Valid driver’s license.
Equivalency:An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered.

Background Check:The City has determined that a criminal background check and/or qualifications check may be necessary for certain positions with this job title. Applicants may be required to sign an informed consent form allowing the City to obtain their criminal history and/or verify their qualifications in connection with the position sought. Applicants who do not sign the informed consent form will not be further considered for the position.
Drug and Alcohol Testing:All job applicants must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test once a conditional offer of employment has been made. Applicants will be required to sign a notification and consent form prior to undergoing drug and alcohol testing. Applicants who do not consent to undergo drug and alcohol testing will not be required to do so and the City will withdraw the conditional job offer, resulting in the job applicant no longer being considered for the position.

Good oral and written communication skills.
Bilingual skills in Spanish, Somali, Amharic, Oromo, Hmong, Vietnamese and/or Lao highly desired.
Ability to relate and work effectively with people from diverse cultural, economic and ethnic backgrounds.
